Hack/Slash casting rumor

Okay, grain of salt time. When you read a scoop that involves “someone overhearing something at a party,” you’ll need a bag of the stuff, but we’re here to keep you fanatics in the loop – and if this thing turns out to be true, won’t you be glad we gave you the heads-up?

First a quick tutorial on HACK/SLASH, the project in question. Based on a comic-book, the story concerns a young woman, Cassie Hack, and her partner Vlad, who search the world looking for slashers, those masked bastards who take it upon themselves to prey upon young teens and carve them up like so much Thanksgiving turkey. That’s right, this is what would happen if Michael Myers or Jason were digging happily into their knife-wielding business and some chick came along and gave them a piece of her mind. And then kicked their brutalizing asses.

The guys over at Bloody Disgusting have got a little bit of rumor concerning the feature film adaptation – which is set up at Rogue – for you to ingest: apparently someone heard that Michael Clark Duncan (THE GREEN MILE, DAREDEVIL) is the director’s first choice to play Vlad. And the role of Cassie has attracted interest from several major actresses. (May I suggest a Jessica? Alba or Biel?)

HACK/SLASH is being helmed by Todd Lincoln, who is also writing THE FLY remake. Rogue looks to get it off the ground this August, with an eye toward releasing it in late-2008.
