All of you HALLOWEEN fans who like your Michael Myers without stringy hair, a white trash background, and “Love Hurts” as his childhood theme song should start getting prepared to revisit your favorite Shatner-mask-wearing psycho – in the theater!
The first two HALLOWEEN’s aren’t in the cards – you’ve seen those a million times anyways – I’m talking about HALLOWEEN 4 and 5, which will be playing as a double feature around the country in select theaters for ONE NIGHT ONLY on October 30th at 7:30 pm. If you didn’t have plans for Devil’s Night, you do now!
As far as the films go, I think Part 4 is a very serviceable flick – lean, no frills, to-the-point slasher horror. Over the years I’ve discovered that it has many admirers indeed… Part 5 certainly isn’t a gem, but it’s got its merits (as well as one of the most “what the f*ck?”! endings in memory). I watch it almost every October when it rears its head on cable because I’m partial to its old-school ways. (I’ll tell you this, I don’t see a certain “reimagining” of HALLOWEEN becoming an October staple in my house at any point… )
