While everyone and their best friend’s friend awaits the next entry into the HALO series, Marvel Comics is teaming up with Bungie to create an ongoing monthly comic based on the shooter, with the first issue scheduled for release next May/June.
Speaking with Gamespot a Marvel rep stated that the comic will explore different parts of the HALO timeline. “Bungie and Marvel are still in the process of deciding which parts to explore. Rest assured–the comic series will cover different areas and parts of the HALO universe and continuity.” Unfortunately, for those thinking that the comic release would coincide with the release of the third game in the series, Marvel did not consider that a factor. Instead, the decision to start up the series next summer was purely based on the talents involved in the comic, branding/marketing reasons, scheduling, etc.
Speaking of talents, Marvel hasn’t stated who they have lined up for the project, yet the rep said that the comics giant would have “a huge announcement” on the creative team in the near future. Gamers itching to see what exactly Marvel is capable of with the license don’t have to wait till next year, either. The newly released 128-page graphic novel, simply titled The HALO Graphic Novel, can be picked up at Marvel’s shop.
