From the look of this poster, M. Night Shyamalan has done it again! Wow. I’m shocked, stunned, and totally stoked! ComingSoon just scored the exclusive first look at the poster for Shyamalan’s THE HAPPENING, and holy f*cking sh*t is it awesome. Now that you have that out of the way, you’ll be able to know exactly what I’m talkin’ about! A few things that particularly stuck out: the string of cars (and the feeling of impending doom), the title’s font (hey, sometimes that can make or break a poster!), and the fact that it says ‘Friday the 13th June 2008!’ Add that all together, and you get a poster you may have wished would’ve worked for CLOVERFIELD, but didn’t. Without seeing what the problem is, they’ve made a truly scary poster…. props!
The tag line toots Shyamalan’s horn a little too much for me, but the awesomeness of the rest of the poster helps me overlook that. Now what I want to know: what the hell is THE HAPPENING all about??? Oh wait… here we go… A couple goes on the run from an apocalyptic crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity.
Starring ‘Marky’ Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo and Betty Buckley, the flick is looking to redeem Shyamalan’s ‘failure’ LADY IN THE WATER (a flick I actually enjoyed a lot, though I seem to be in the minority), and will be the man’s first R rated movie! This keeps gettin’ better and better! I can’t flippin’ wait! Prepare for THE HAPPENING in theaters everywhere June 13th!
