Harrison Ford manages Jackie Robinson in the trailer for 42

Got any baseball fans out there?

There’s no denying that Jackie Robinson was a fantastic player. He overcame adversity to be the first African American to join the MLB. Now he is one of the most well known players of any sport even 40 years after he passed away. So if anyone deserves a biopic, this man certainly does.

Brian Helgeland’s 42 is the story of Robinson’s humble beginnings and rise to the top. Harrison Ford stars as the Dodger’s GM Branch Rickey. This is an interesting role for Ford, who is a badass, but I’m trying to figure out if he fits the character or if his acting is a tad exaggerated. The first trailer for the film is up and ready for you to take a gander at. Check it out below.

42 also stars Ryan Merriman, Brad Beyer, Judy Tylor, Jon Bernthal, Nicole Beharie, Chadwick Boseman and T.R. Knight, and will release April 12, 2013.

Synopsis: Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are teaming up with director Brian Helgeland for “42,” the powerful story of Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball player who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he joined the roster of the Brooklyn Dodgers. “42” will star Academy Award(R) nominee Harrison Ford (“Witness”) as the innovative Dodger’s general manager Branch Rickey, the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors and then helped to bring him up to the show, and Chadwick Boseman (“The Express”) as Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the color line in the big leagues.
