The project I’m getting at is an adaptation of Brian Selznick’s THE HOUDINI BOX. The novel, based on the famed magician, was published back in 1991 and just had it’s rights snatched up by Chernin Entertainment. Here’s a look at the rundown for the book:
The book centers on a boy who’s trying unsuccessfully to perform Houdini’s magic tricks when he meets his idol at a train station and begs Houdini to explain himself, eliciting a promise from Houdini to write. The boy finally receives a letter inviting him to Houdini’s house — only to discover that Houdini died that day and left him a mysterious, locked box.
Sounds like it’s got some potential right? Unfortunately that’s all the info we’re treated to regarding THE HOUDINI BOX but we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one to see how dark it turns out being.
