After making a smash with her 2019 coming-of-age comedy BOOKSMART, starring Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein, Olivia Wilde is getting ready to hit Hollywood with a 1950s psychological drama titled DON'T WORRY, DARLING. The upcoming film already stars some of Tinseltown's finest in Florence Pugh (MIDSOMMAR), Chris Pine (WONDER WOMAN 1984), and Dakota Johnson (THE SOCIAL NETWORK), and now we've learned that Harry Styles is joining the cast. Styles will replace Shia LaBeouf, who needed to exit the project due to conflicts in his very busy schedule.
Wilde is directing the thriller for New Line in addition to having a key supporting role onscreen. Previously, the project has been described as a film about a 1950s housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing a disturbing truth underneath. THE SILENCE writers Shane and Carey Van Dyke will pen the script, with Wilde's BOOKSMART collaborator Katie Silberman to draft a total rewrite. It's also been reported that Roy Lee and Yiri Moon of Vertigo Entertainment will produce alongside Wilde and Silberman. Additionally, Catherine Hardwicke will executive produce alongside Shane and Carey Van Dyke.
Production on DON'T WORRY, DARLING is considering a fall production start, though we'll see if the ongoing pandemic has other plans, I suppose.
