Hasbro’s Clue to get a comic book adaptation courtesy of IDW Publishing

The indie comics publisher IDW is known not only for distributing series like Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith's 30 Days of Night in additon to one of the best comic book series of all time with Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez' Locke & Key, but also a laundry list of books based on licensed properties like Doctor Who, Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Judge Dredd, and (the far better and funnier than you think it would be) My Little Pony franchises.

Today, we're happy to tell you that IDW has made plans to create a five-issue mini-series based on Hasbro's mystery board game CLUE. The tale of Mr. Boddy's untimely demise will be written by Paul Allor (Guardians of the Galaxy) with art by Nelson Daniel (The Cape). Furthermore, Locke & Key's own Gabriel Rodriguez will provide the art for the cover of issue #1.

The story will begin after Mr. Boddy's dinner party death, with readers following the investigations of Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, and Miss Scarlet as they search the manor for a killer who may still be lurking among them. What's super cool about this project is that the first issue of the series will include three alternative endings, with each one dependent on the variant cover fans have chosen to purchase.

In speaking about the project, Hasbro's Director of Publishing Michael Kelly had this to say, "Clue is one of Hasbro’s most iconic brands for a reason — it’s a fun murder mystery concept filled with colorful characters as they attempt to find the murderer. IDW has been our trusted partner in the comic world for a long time, and we are thrilled with the way they’ve translated the property to this new medium. Readers will love following along with the story and trying to unravel the mystery of the case." Adding to Kelly's comments was IDW Publishing President and CCO Greg Goldstein with this statement, "Ask the average person and they can tell you who the suspects in Clue are. They are household names and have provided countless hours of entertainment for audiences across the globe. We can’t wait to have fun with these characters."
