Hatchet director Adam Green serves up Killer Pizza for MGM

So far, here’s my favorite news of the day…

Per Deadline, HATCHET & FROZEN director Adam Green is cooking up a cool sounding monster-movie called KILLER PIZZA for MGM. At least, the studio is looking to buy Green’s spec script, which he adapted from Greg Taylor’s novel of the same name. Word is Rafaella De Laurentiis will likely produce alongside Chris Columbus’ 1492 Entertainment.

KILLER PIZZA centers on a 14 year old boy that takes a summer job at a pizza parlor. Thing is, it turns out the eatery is merely a front for a monster-hunting operation.

Now, in case that Chris Columbus connection raised your eyebrows, let me explain. The HOME ALONE director brought the script to MGM suits when they put out a search for genre-tinged kiddie fare, a la THE GOONIES and GREMLINS. Apparently, KILLER PIZZA fits the mold.

Alright, if this all proves true, you like the departure to a bit lighter fare for Green? Seems like he’s set to go wider and broader, also adapting for the first time. Seems like a nice direction to take to me. Hopefully he has a clause in his contract to direct KILLER PIZZA himself. Know what I’m saying?
