Hellboy 2 talk

Guillermo Del Toro’s fan base has probably increased a hefty amount with the recent success of PAN’S LABYRINTH, and now Del Toro has been speaking to The Age about his upcoming film, HELLBOY 2, which will see Ron Perlman back as the kitten loving hero.

I remember hearing a while back about there being fairies and elves and all sorts of magical creatures making some sort of appearance in the sequel, and this article sheds some light on how Del Toro wrote HELLBOY 2 while he was working on PAN’S LABYRINTH, which helps you understand why. Del Toro mentions that “Mike (Mignola – the creator of the Hellboy comic-book character) was quite horrified by how much I had deviated from what we had talked about, especially at some of the quote, unquote whimsical elements, the parts about magic and the fairy world. But then fortunately, he saw Pan’s Labyrinth and he realised that the two movies would have some parallels”.
