*UPDATE*:Props to sepirothkiller87 for letting us know that IGN has some screenshots from the game up on their site, which you can check out here.
Must be a video games-type of week (it must be since I’m in the midst of finishing up college projects), as Hollywood Reporter reveals today that Guillermo del Toro will be spearheading a video game based on HELLBOY, with help from the comic’s creator Mike Mignola and Konami (who recently revealed METAL GEAR SOLID 4 to the E3 faithful).
At E3 on Tuesday, Konami America chief operating officer Geoff Mulligan revealed the news to the masses, who might have been tipped off my del Toro’s comments earlier about his love for video games, and how there are really no limits to the imagination when it comes to them. “There’s a very nice atmosphere with games, sort of Hollywood the way God intended it, really.” The game will be released in 2007, the same year that Ron Perlman and company hit theatres for HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY (also directed by del Toro). No word on if the game will follow the sequel’s storyline or if it’s an entirely new adventure.
For those keeping score, there was a game based on the comic released in 2004 for the PC and PlayStation called HELLBOY: ASYLUM SEEKER, which followed the comic versions of Hellboy and company (it wasn’t any good, if you’re wondering, so stay away).
