If you click
here you can head
over to IGN and check out the exclusive that they had with HELLBOY director
Guillermo del Toro. When asked about how he felt about Universal Studios now
that they will be producing HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY, del Toro had this to
say:
“My hope is
that if everything goes well and we continue [the franchise], Hellboy can start
fighting the Universal monsters! I would love to see that.”
del Toro was also very clear that it
would not be a Van Helsing debacle, but the original Universal monsters in all
their glory. “I would love to [go with the classic
versions], I would love to,” laughs the director, who says that Frankenstein and
the Creature from the Black Lagoon are his favorites. “[Hellboy
creator Mike] Mignola, when we closed the deal with Universal, we both looked at
each other and just said, ‘Frankenstein!'”
The Hellboy franchise is really taking
off with both the sequel to HELLBOY now being produced by Universal studios and the animated feature, HELLBOY:SWORD OF
STORMS, being released later this month on the Cartoon Network. F**k this guy
does pretty good for someone who has a “Right Hand of Doom!”
