While no one can replace Dwayne Johnson as Kevin Hart’s bosom buddy on the silver screen, Henry Cavill is ready and willing to join the comedian for McG’s upcoming spy comedy at Netflix! The untitled project, hailing from the director behind The Babysitter, Charlie’s Angels, and Terminator Salvation, is heating up at Netflix, and we’re excited to see what type of chemistry Cavill and Hart can deliver.
McG directs the untitled action comedy with Kevin Hart and Henry Cavill in the lead roles. According to The Wrap, Cavill will play a spy in the new project. Coming aboard the project to produce are Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Emily Morris for 21 Laps, the same team behind Netflix’s Stranger Things series. Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort is also getting in on the action, after teaming with 21 Laps for Free Guy, The Adam Project, and Deadpool & Wolverine. In addition to his starring role, Hart is producing via his Hartbeat banner, alongside Luke Kelly-Clyne and Dryan Smiley.
THR says the developing action comedy focuses on “two rival spies who cross paths in a Lamaze class as their wives become fast friends. With their double lives colliding in unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways, the two men are forced to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood.”
Up next for Cavill is Enola Holmes 3, premiering on Netflix on July 1. Phillip Barantini directs Enola Holmes 3, based on the novel series by Nancy Springer. Cavill plays Sherlock Holmes in the sequel, opposite Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, his sister and a master detective. In the upcoming threequel, Detective Enola Holmes heads to Malta, where her aspirations merge in her most complex and dangerous case yet. Helena Bonham Carter, Louis Patridge, Himesh Patel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Susan Wokoma round out the cast. Elsewhere, Cavill is busy filming Chad Stahelski’s Highlander, which focuses on an immortal Scottish swordsman who faces off with other immortal warriors to obtain a coveted ability. Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Jeremy Irons, and Djimon Hounsou also star.
I’m genuinely excited to learn more about what McG’s got cooking. His movies are often hit-or-miss, but the concept for this one sounds fun, and I’m curious to see how Hart and Cavill pair on screen. What about you? Are you interested in this project? Let us know in the comments section below.
