Henry Cavill will be our next Superman!

Wake up people! I know it’s Sunday afternoon, but Warner Bros. has inexplicably decided to break the news that they have found their new Man of Steel for their Nolan-produced, Snyder-directed reboot.

The man who will stand for truth, justice and the American way will actually be a Brit, as Henry Cavill has landed the much coveted role. You probably best know him as the teenage son from THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, but more recently, he’s been a fixture on The Tudors on Showtime.

Back in the Bryan Singer SUPERMAN RETURNS days, Cavill was mentioned as a possible choice, though ultimately lost out to Routh. Deadline reports that in recent weeks, Cavill has been the frontrunner for the part, and now Warners is confirming it. Here’s what Zack Snyder has to say about the news:

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Well, I can’t say I know much about the guy, but if they’re looking for a young, chiseled Superman, he and his jawline definitely fit the bill.

What do you think about Cavill as Superman?
