Believe it or not, I’m actually hearing nothing but good things about Rupert Wyatt’s RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. In fact, not to gratuitously plug HBO, but their “Making Of” doc really highlighted what seems to be revolutionary FX work by the fine folks of WETA. And in just four short days we’ll be able to see their handy-work on the big-screen! Check out the grip of new character posters 20th Century Fox recently released for the film.
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and Tom Felton round out the principal cast.
The apes rise August 5th.
