THR’s Heat Vision adds that Universal has continually been going back to the idea of casting Stewart ever since they acquired the project in the first place. This is despite the fact that they’ve already tested a handful of (relatively unknown) actresses such as Riley Keough, Felicity Jones, and Alicia Vikander. Browning is the latest to have tested according to them. My guess is that they’d probably like to bring in a bigger female name to attract a wider audience, and Stewart would do just that. Browning could blow up, though, should Zack Synder’s SUCKER PUNCH strike a chord with audiences beyond just movie geeks.
As a refresher, the film’s story centers around the Huntsman who’s ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead escapes with her, becomes her mentor, and teaches her how to fight.
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN – from writer Evan Daugherty and director Rupert Sanders – is currently set for release on December 21, 2012.
