Oh there you are, Peter!
Somehow, Hook is not seen as a prime Spielberg film. It has all the elements going for it, with Robin Williams perfectly cast as the adult version of the youthful Peter Pan and Steven Spielberg himself was known for being in a “Peter Pan phase” for part of his career when the director’s works had the wondrous, magical and optimistic nature of someone who “refused to grow up.” Plus, instead of a traditional adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s original story, Hook took an interesting approach and asked, “What if Peter Pan grew up?”
While the movie itself has been somewhat divisive, with even Spielberg not totally pleased with the final product, there is a generation that is absolutely enamored with this film. These fans will be able to celebrate its 35th anniversary with a new 4K Blu-ray release from Sony. Blu-ray.com has just passed along some details for the upcoming physical media item.
A release date has not been firmly announced, but it is projected to be in Fall 2026. However, the German release of this 4K is said to be scheduled on November 19.

The official description reads,
“A high-flying adventure from the magic of Steven Spielberg, Hook stars Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan and Dustin Hoffman as the infamous Captain Hook. Joining the fun is Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, Bob Hoskins as the pirate Smee, and Maggie Smith as Granny Wendy Darling, who must convince middle-aged lawyer Peter Banning that he was once the legendary Peter Pan. And so the adventure begins anew, with Peter off to Neverland to save his two children from Captain Hook. Along the way, he rediscovers the power of imagination, friendship, and of magic. A classic tale updated for children of all ages, Hook was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Visual Effects in 1991.”
There has yet to be news of what extra features will be included with this release, but it has been said on the Hook Movie Fan Community on Facebook that the German version of this 35th anniversary Blu-ray will include a documentary, B-roll footage, deleted scenes and the trailer. It’s likely the same features will be present in the U.S. version and possibly more additional exclusives.
