Hooper’s undead Mortuary

Dread Central shed some new light on the new Tobe Hooper project, MORTUARY yesterday by confirming with producer Evan Katz that while the film is delayed in pre-production for awhile, it’s still going to be made. It was rumored to be completely shut down after the first day of shooting- a rumor that was extinguished straight from the horses mouth. I’m glad to hear it was just a rumor because the flick sounds awesome! It’s about a family who decides to take over a funeral home in a small town in Massachusetts, which would be all fine and dandy except for the fact that the ground the mortuary’s located on is cursed and, well, we can only imagine the massacre that ensues. Sounds like Hooper’s taking the building-on-cursed-land-turns-bad premise from POLTERGEIST to a whole new level of terror- I mean, Jesus, you can’t get scarier than a Funeral Home!

By the way, this shouldn’t be confused with the 1981 slasher flick MORTUARY, starring a very young Bill Paxton, as well as the film’s killer as an obvious inspiration for the ghostface look in the SCREAM trilogy…
