Hopes for McBride’s Dundee go down under as project is revealed to be a fake

Aww bugger, it looks like those of us who were genuinely excited (or morbidly curious) about Danny McBride's DUNDEE: THE SON OF A LEGEND RETURNS shall go wanting, as the mysterious project has been revealed to not be a movie at all. Yeah, yeah, congratulations Eric Walkuski, you were right all along.

According to The Brisbane Times“Industry sources have indicated the teaser – featuring US actor Danny McBride – is part of an advertising campaign for Tourism Australia, set to air during next month’s NFL Super Bowl.” So far, Tourism Australia has refused to comment on the matter. With that said, I'm sure that they're off somewhere, enjoying a cold can of Foster's, while laughing on our gullible behalf.

The Brisbane Times also made a point to mention that the Dundee title is not listed as a part of Screen Australia’s upcoming list of releases. Furthermore, the film's listed director, Steve Rogers, is in fact an award-winning commercial actor. And so … there you have it. I know, I'm oddly disappointed as well. This movie had the potential to be obnoxious enough to actually work.

As of now, DUNDEE: THE SON OF A LEGEND RETURNS will never arrive in theaters, because it was not a real movie to begin with. Pour one out and throw another shrimp on the barbie for this one, folks. It's done. Catch you later.
