After breaking records with 2024’s Inside Out 2, Disney and Pixar delivered a one-two punch with their latest animated feature, Hoppers. The adorable film banked $372 million worldwide at the box office, and now it’s coming home to the mouse-eared streaming platform, Disney+. When does the film hit the service? Sooner than you think! June 3, to be exact!
The wildly imaginative animated adventure follows animal lover Mabel as she uses a groundbreaking technology to “hop” her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver, uncovering a hidden animal world shaped by its own rules. Alongside charismatic beaver King George and an unforgettable community of local wildlife, Mabel embarks on an action-packed mission that invites audiences to experience nature like never before.
If June feels like one day too many, you can own the film physically on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 2. Hoppers is already available to own on digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.
Our editor-in-chief, Chris Bumbray, says Hoppers surprised him. In his review, Chris said, “I actually had a better time watching this than I did with Zootopia 2. Even if they’re not firing on all cylinders, the brain trust at Pixar still knows how to crank out good family entertainment. The only question is whether they can win back an audience that’s gotten used to watching their stuff on streaming, with the animation not quite as hip as what’s happening at Sony Animation and other studios.”
I regret not seeing Hoppers in theaters, but it comforts me to know I’ll be putting my Disney+ subscription to work, piecemealing my way through Daredevil: Born Again and rewatching every season of Bob’s Burgers until my eyes bleed. I’ve heard conflicting opinions about Hoppers, but because of my garbage memory, I’ve forgotten most of what people have said, and, as always, I look forward to making my own opinion about a movie I’m genuinely excited to watch.
