Ali Larter (FINAL DESTINATION, HEROES) is returning to horror with THE DIABOLICAL, one of the seemingly endless string of paranormal films that are coming out this decade. The trailer doesn't look half bad, but every single scene looks like it could have been cut from the trailer for THE CONJURING or INSIDIOUS or even DARK SKIES.
The most interesting addition is an older gentleman who seems to be an evil realtor with a wicked grin, kind of reminiscent of Reverend Kane from POLTERGEIST II. There's nothing new under the sun, obviously, but at least that's a borrowed idea that hasn't been around for quite a while. I'm willing to follow that down the rabbit hole. THE DIABOLICAL follows Madison and her children in their quiet suburban home as they are awoken nightly by an increasingly strange and intense presence. Madison desperately seeks help from her scientist boyfriend Nikolai, who begins a hunt to destroy the violent spirit that paranormal experts are too frightened to undertake.
THE DIABOLICAL, which is the directorial debut of Alistair Legrand and also stars Patrick Fischler, Arjun Gupta, Merrin Dungey, and Joe Egender, will haunt theaters on October 16, 2015.
