David Fincher says Netflix’s Mindhunter is gonna go five seasons

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Season 2 of Netflix and David Fincher's amazing serial killer series MINDHUNTER hit the streaming giant earlier this month. And today we're hearing from star Holt McCallany that not only does Fincher have a THIRD season in mind, but he also has an overall plan to run the series for FIVE seasons.

McCallany reveals:

[David Fincher] said ‘Listen, are you ready to do this for five seasons? Because even if I fuck it up, it's gonna go five seasons, and I don't intend to fuck it up.’ So I'd like to think that we will continue, for as long as David is intrigued by telling this particular story.

Not only that but McCallany hints that season three could represent "a complete reimagining of the show."

For those of you out there that haven't had the pleasure of binge-watching the second season yet, it centers on The Atlanta Child Murders, a series of killings that left 28 African-American children, teenagers, and adults killed between 1979-1981. Meanwhile, the first season followed this synopsis:

Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the villain's mind to figure out how he thinks. That's the job of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench. They attempt to understand and catch serial killers by studying their damaged psyches. Along the way, the agents pioneer the development of modern serial-killer profiling. The crime drama has a strong pedigree behind the camera, with Oscar-nominated director David Fincher and Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron among the show's executive producers.

Season 2 consists of nine episodes with Fincher directing the first three. Andrew Dominik and Carl Franklin helm the other episodes. MINDHUNTER SEASON 2 is NOW STREAMING over on Netflix. Have you watched it yet? Let us know what you thought below!
