Emma Roberts will be back for American Horror Story season 9

American Horror Story Emma Roberts

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy has revealed that Emma Roberts will have a role in the show's upcoming ninth season, making this her fifth season of the anthology series overall and her third in a row.

There is very little known about the ninth season at this point - as usual, the theme is being kept under wraps until we get closer to the premiere. The only information Murphy has given is that Roberts will be playing the girlfriend of a character to be played by pro skier Gus Kenworthy, who won a silver medal at the 2014 winter Olympics.

Kenworthy previously showed up as a skier in SHARKNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING.

Roberts first joined American Horror Story in season 3, where she played the witch Madison Montgomery, a role she was able to reprise in season 8. In season 4 she played the con artist "fortune teller" Maggie Esmerelda, and she made a one episode appearance in season 7 as newscaster Serena Belinda.

Roberts and Kenworthy are now the only cast members confirmed for season 9, but chances are American Horror Story regulars like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be in there as well.

American Horror Story seasons usually make their debut on FX sometime in October or September, so season 9 will probably do the same.
