RZA The Man with the Iron Fists

A founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan and "the de facto leader of the group", RZA has been working in the music industry for almost thirty years and also has twenty years of film credits to his name. After providing the score for films like GHOST DOG: THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI, KILL BILL: VOL. 1, and BLADE: TRINITY, he made his directorial debut on THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS (pictured above), which he co-wrote with Eli Roth. He also plays the title character in that film and its sequel.

Now RZA is set to direct a horror film for the first time, and when he takes of the helm of ANGEL OF DUST he'll be working from a screenplay by SUMMER OF '84 writers Matt Leslie and Stephen J. Smith that's based on a story crafted by Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah and their manager Caruso.

Said to be inspired by true stories that happened around members of the Wu-Tang Clan when they were growing up in and around Staten Island, ANGEL OF DUST has the following synopsis:

Casey is a normal yet exceptionally smart teenager and talented rapper but after the mysterious death of his parents he’s been forced to grow up in NY’s roughest inner-city streets (known as Shaolin in Wu-Tang folklore), basically on his own. As life in the hood around him gets tragically worse he must put his skills to the test to survive not only the gangs, corrupt cops, junkies and bullies, but a serial killer with seemingly supernatural powers dubbed Angel of Dust by the media.

RZA, Ghostface Killah, and Caruso will be producing the film with Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates of Impossible Dream Entertainment and Gary Ousdahl of Foundation. Mark Strome, Mickey Gooch Sr., Jamie Adler, and Jonnie Forster of Foundation serve as executive producers. iWood Studios, headed by Matt Antoun, are financing ANGEL OF DUST.

The Wu-Tang Clan will be providing an "epic new soundtrack" for the film that's being produced by Ghostface Killah and Caruso, while RZA will be composing the score.

RZA says he's "turbo charged" to be working with Ghostface Killah on a film project, and Ghostface says the result of this collaboration will be legendary. Redick is excited to be producing

a cutting-edge suspense thriller loosely based on true events that though terrifying helped shape one of the greatest groups of all time. The writers, Leslie and Smith have taken this original idea to seismic levels."

We'll keep you updated on ANGEL OF DUST as the project moves forward.
