Stephen King officially writing a sequel to The Shining: Dr. Sleep

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If you’re interested in the further adventures of young Danny Torrance from Stephen King’s THE SHINING, guess what? So is Mr. King! In fact, we’re bringing you the very intriguing news that King is currently in the process of writing a sequel to his classic novel; it’s called DR. SLEEP.

Here’s what Stephen King’s official site had to say about it: It’s now official–Stephen is working on Dr. Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. This weekend Steve read an excerpt from this at his appearance at George Mason University. They have given us permission to post their taping of the event here on Steve’s site which we will do as soon as we receive the file. Dr. Sleep’s plot includes a traveling group of vampires called The Tribe which is part of the passage he read from.

Not sure how I feel about the vampire angle, but I’ll trust “Steve” on this one. THE SHINING is one of his true greats, so there will be no shortage of interest when it comes to a follow-up…

Check out the video of King reading a passage from DR. SLEEP below. Interesting stuff…
