Stephen King praises Netflix’s super-scary series Marianne

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Netflix has been giving itself a good name lately when it comes to horror TV shows. From THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE to DARK, they're really stepping up their genre game. And now it looks like the streaming giant may have another new classic with their original French series MARIANNE. And if you don't believe me, maybe you'll take the recommendation of Mr. Stephen King, who tweets:

If you're one of those sickos–like me–who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job. There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe.

Now I have only had the pleasure of checking out the first 4 episodes of the 8-episodes series created by Samuel Bodin and starring Victoire Du Bois, Lucie Boujenah, and Tiphaine Daviot. But those four episodes have MORE than proved this series is 100% a new horror must-see. I got super-creeped out multiple times thus far and let me tell you, making me turn to my girlfriend and give her a nervous giggle is NOT easy to do.

MARIANNE tells the tale of

A novelist who realizes her terrifying stories are coming true, and she returns to her hometown to face the demons from her past that inspire her writing.

You can check out the show's must-see trailer below. Give it a look-see and then make sure to check out the series on Netflix tonight! Du Bois, Boujenah, and Daviot's co-stars include Ralph Amoussou, Bellamine Abdelmalek, Mehdi Meskar, Alban Lenoir, Mireille Herbstmeyer, Corinne Valancogne, Patrick d'Assumçao, and Pierre Aussedat. All 8 episodes of MARIANNE are NOW STREAMING on Netflix. Enjoy!
