Horror @ the Box Office: Dec 9-11 – The real horror is the lack of genre releases and what made number 1

It is once again Monday; we are smack bang in the middle of December already! This year has flown by; it will be 2012 in just a few short weeks. But we’re still in 2011, so what happened at the Box Office this weekend?

Nothing much to be honest, numbers were right now. Taking the lead was the absolutely awful looking NEW YEAR’S EVE (starring Jessica Biel as featured in this article) the ensemble cast rom-com, and with these numbers let us hopes this ridiculous trend is ending. Taking second position was Jonah Hill’s THE SITTER, the insane looking film really did not make a dent and honestly what a weird time to release such a film.

Films floated around the Top 10 once again, with IMMORTALS still banging around. This time of year is slow but things are looking up with the likes of SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL both hitting Friday. Then we shall have more releases around Christmas with THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, TIN TIN and THE DARKEST HOUR. Then January is set to have more genre releases, so save up folks!
