Another start to the week, hope all of you readers had a good weekend. Welcome to another instalment of weekend Box Office, and let’s take a look at how our genre films have done.
Despite four big releases last week, it seemed audiences wanted to go back to THE LION KING. The film has won the Box Office for the second week of its re-release. Following on the Brad Pitt starrer MONEYBALL showed up in second place.
Perhaps proving that TWILIGHT’s Taylor Lautner cannot open an action film ABDUCTION came in at 4th, with the film getting some terrible reviews (scope out JimmyO’s review here). The film some how managed to out do the Jason Statham vehicle KILLER ELITE which took the 5th spot.
CONTAGION, DRIVE and even STRAW DOGS remained in the Top 10; with DRIVE making back its budget and then some. Overall not the best week for genre releases, and we’ll see how it goes next week with DREAM HOUSE starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz (below) and Naomi Watts.
