Comics and graphic-novels these days are rife with cinematic inspiration. WATCHMEN, SIN CITY, SCOTT PILGRIM, not to mention the undying string of mega-superhero franchises: at this point it’s safe to call such an avenue a trend and not an ephemeral fad.
Well, our newest genre graphic-novel to possibly be adapted to the big screen is retired actor Brian Evans’ “Horrorscope,” which has just been secured by Zenescope Entertainment (according to Variety). Evans, who’s made TV appearances on “Full House” and “Beverly Hills, 90210” – looks to have his first issue on stands sometime in mid-late 2010.
For those as unfamiliar as I, “Horrorscope” centers on a young psychic whose brutal murder triggers a physical manifestation of the signs of the zodiac which rise to seek vengeance for his death.
Sounds solid!
Based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Zenescope (“Grimm Fairy Tales”, “Final Destination”) also optioned the rights to adapt “Horrorscope” into feature films, toys and videogames.
So I’m giving till like 2011 that we see a first flick, you? Who knows, maybe Evans will lock up a Saget cameo (better yet, Lori Laughlin).
