Today Platinum Dunes and Mandate Pictures posted a press release stating that their crime thriller HORSEMEN has begun principal photography in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund from a screenplay by David Callaham, the film stars Dennis Quaid, Ziyi Zhang, Lou Taylor Pucci, Clifton Collins, Jr., Shabaka Henley, Neil McDonough and Peter Stormare.
The flick centres on the story of hardened detective Aidan Breslin (Quaid) who, having grown increasingly distant from his two young sons since the death of his wife, now finds himself thrust into an investigation of perverse serial killings rooted in the Biblical prophecy of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As Breslin grapples with each new revelation in the case, he slowly discovers a shocking connection between himself and the four suspects.
“HORSEMEN is a film we’ve been passionate about for a long time,” says Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller. “We are thrilled to be making it with such a stellar cast and a gifted filmmaker, Jonas Åkerlund, as well as our production partners, Mandate Pictures and Radar Pictures.”
Four Horsemen, eh? Sort of sounds like SE7EN, which was a kickass film in it’s own right. Hopefully this one turns out to be a winner as well.
