Hoskins has a plague

Those looking for a little somethin’-somethin’ on Rogue Pictures’ epidemic thriller DOOMSDAY are in luck, as today the company announced that Bob Hoskins has joined the cast, which includes Rhona Mitra, Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby, Chris Robson, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone, Leslie Simpson and Craig Conway (who we last saw in THE DESCENT).

Written and directed by Neil Marshall, DOOMSDAY begins filming February 9th in South Africa and the UK, and centres on a lethal virus that after three decades has torn through a major country, leading to the country’s walling off. When the virus, known as the Reaper, resurfaces in another country, an elite group is dispatched to the infected country to find a cure. There, they end up shut off from the rest of the world and must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

Hoskins will play Bill Nelson, a career policeman who goes along with the group to monitor it’s progress. Also joining the cast are Alexander Siddig and Adrian Lester. Expect this one in 2009.
