A few months ago, Eli Roth said that he was “bled out,” and was moving on toward safer, more family friendly pastures (and I personally don’t think its a bad idea for him to switch things up). With that in mind, it’s not much of a surprise that he won’t be doing HOSTEL III. It also isn’t much of a surprise that Screen Gems WILL, however, be gleefully torturing more helpless tourists on their own.
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Sony is moving forward on HOSTEL III without Mr. Roth. It is unknown whether or not it will be going into theaters or straight to DVD, but I’m betting on the latter. It makes total sense for the studio, and let’s face it, they made I’LL ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER for the love of god; This won’t be beneath them. I doubt there will be much fan outrage, since PART II doesn’t exactly have a legion of supporters, and it can’t be too hard to stage a few effectively ghoulish torture sequences in a dank room.
Hopefully more word will roll downhill on this project; if it does, we’ll keep you in the know, as always.
