We’ve been keep you updated on CONAN THE BARBARIAN‘s progress (you know, the one that might be directed by John McTiernan, or Xavier Gens, or Rob Zombie, or Neil Marshall?) – so I suppose it only makes sense that we let you know there’s already a spin-off! Of sorts…
Variety is reporting that Djimon Hounsou (BLOOD DIAMOND, DEEP RISING) is partering with Dynamite Entertainment (who are in pre-production on RED SONJA) to bring us a bigscreen epic about Robert E. Howard’s infamous villain THULSA DOOM – famously portrayed by James Earl Jones in the original CONAN film. Apparently, Doom is well-known as the villain in Howard’s KULL series, but I don’t know a thing about those books, so I won’t even get into it…
Planned pic will showcase the origins of the flawed hero and show how his road to hell was paved with good intentions.
Hounsou can be a bad mofo when he wants to, so I can see him finally ascending to leading-man status. Question is, is this the right project? Will this effect Conan plans? We shall see…
Red Sonja indeed!
