As we told you last week, Relativity Media snatched up the thriller HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET, which appears to do for PSYCHO what DISTURBIA did for REAR WINDOW. (Let that sink in.) The film, which stars Hottie of the Moment Jennifer Lawrence (THE HUNGER GAMES, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS), the Still Hot Elisabeth Shue, and That Kid from MY SOUL TO TAKE Max Theriot, has just been given a release date by the studio, and that date is FEBRUARY 3, 2012.
The date doesn’t hold much competition for the likes of HOUSE; currently it’s only up against a drama titled CHRONICLE. Two weeks prior sees the release of UNDERWORLD: NEW DAWN and the following week brings the 3D-converted version of THE PHANTOM F*CKING MENACE, so I would think prospects are good right now for HOUSE, with its almost-guaranteed PG-13 rating, teen-friendly cast and wide-open playing field.
Directed by Mark Tonderai (HUSH) and written by David Loucka (DREAM HOUSE), HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET is about a mother (Shue) and daughter (Lawrence) who move into a new community and find themselves next door to a house in which a psychotic young girl murdered her parents. While the locals insist the girl vanished after the brutal murders, the young newcomer befriends the surviving son (Max Theriot) and discovers the sinister story is far from over.
