House of Darkness trailer: Justin Long, Kate Bosworth star in Neil LaBute thriller

Two days ago, we shared the news that director Neil LaBute’s dark comedy / seductive thriller House of Darkness will be getting a limited theatrical release on September 9th, courtesy of Saban Films. The theatrical run will be followed by a VOD release on September 13th. With those dates coming up fast, a trailer for House of Darkness has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above!

Starring Justin Long (Tusk) and Kate Bosworth (Before I Wake), House of Darkness tells the following story:

Driving home to her secluded estate after meeting at a local bar, a player out to score thinks his beautiful, mysterious date will be another casual hook-up. While getting acquainted, their flirtation turns playful, sexy and sinister. Hoping to get lucky, his luck may have just run out.

Gia Crovatin (Dirty Weekend) and Lucy Walters (the Get Shorty TV series) are also in the cast.

Daryl Freimark, Tim Harms, and Shaun Sanghani produced House of Darkness, with Michael Barnett as associate producer, Shelley D. Needham as co-producer, and Stephen Morgenstern and Jonathan Saba as executive producers.

LaBute may be best known for his 2006 version of The Wicker Man (Nicolas Cage says it was intended to be a comedy), but in addition to that blunder of a remake he has also directed In the Company of Men, Your Friends and Neighbors, Nurse Betty, Possession (2002), The Shape of Things, Lakeview Terrace, Death at a Funeral (2010), and episodes of Hell on Wheels, Billions, Billy & Billie, and The I-Land, among other things. It was recently announced that he’s working with Maggie Q on a home invasion thriller called Fear the Night.

House of Darkness looks interesting to me based on the trailer, so I will definitely be checking this one out in September. Does this movie look like something you would want to watch? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
