What you should not do is play the game with Charlie that they have set up. Talk about an annoying journey through nowhere’s ville. Crap, I’m psyched for this movie and was about ready to shoot myself when I played the game. I’m all for movie websites developing original and intriguing content, and I do like the creepy vibe that horror movie sites are aiming for, but c’mon. You make the mistake of clicking yes when they ask if you want to play with Charlie, and you’re in for a very long and useless trip through thin movie clips and where the hell do I click next. Oh yeah, if you click no, they make you play too.
Don’t let this in any way dissuade you from seeing the movie. It’s got DeNiro, Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Shue and Famke Janssen. It’s a great eerie concept (though very Boogeyman-ish), and the trailers we’ve got so far look sweet. I’d just rather they leave the cool website stuff to indy filmmakers who actually take the time to put together something worth our while. Or at the very least allow us to get to the pertinent content without having to jump through hoops like we’re a bunch of sweater wearing poodles!
Go all the way, or stay home, y’know. We genre fans aren’t that freaking easy.
