Hugh Jackman pays tribute to Logan on film’s third anniversary

Three years ago today, LOGAN was released nationwide and arguably became the best film of the X-MEN franchise and one of the best comic book adaptations of all-time. 20th Century Fox, now 20th Century Studios, took a risk by securing an R-rating for film and the end result were stellar reviews (93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes) & staggering box office ($619 million worldwide). The film's star, Hugh Jackman, took to his Instagram today to celebrate the film's third anniversary and he shared a series of rare or never-before-seen publicity shots of his older, heavily scarred take on Wolverine.

During Hugh Jackman's run as Wolverine, which began with the first X-MEN film in 2000, the actor has consistently been passionate about the character and the films. It makes sense that he would share the images with the fans because they have been some of his biggest supporters. Jackman left the following caption on his post:

"3 years ago, on this day, LOGAN was released. Thank you for the many (and I really mean MANY) years of sweat, steamed chicken and the role of a lifetime!"

At its core, LOGAN is a surprisingly thoughtful comic book film which features a very nuanced performance from Hugh Jackman while defying  genre conventions.

Do YOU think LOGAN is one of the best comic book films?
