The Hunger Games prequel character posters welcome pivotal players to the deadly arena

The 10th Annual Hunger Games kicks off in theaters on November 17 with the release of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes! To celebrate the return of the dystopia created by Suzanne Collins, Lionsgate is debuting the Hunger Games prequel character posters featuring pivotal players in the game of life or death.

The Hunger Games prequel character posters (below) bring several of the film’s primary cast to the stage, including Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as Lucy Gray Baird, Tom Blyth (Robin Hood) as Coriolanus Snow, Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) as Tigris Snow, Peter Dinklage (The Toxic Avenger) as Casca Highbottom, Viola Davis (The Suicide Squad) as Dr. Columinia Gaul, Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdom) as Lucretius’ Lucky’ Flickerman, and Josh Andrés Rivera (Cat Person) as Sejanus Plinth.

Each poster highlights a character from the upcoming prequel, standing proudly among a tangle of golden songbirds, snakes, and foliage. While everyone dresses to impress, Hunger Games contestants play dirty, and tailors will weep when the alarm sounds and their best-made threads meet the business end of a sharp weapon.

“Years, before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol,” reads the official synopsis of the Hunger Games prequel. “With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird and who is a snake.” Francis Lawrence, who directed the final three films of the Hunger Games franchise, has returned to helm the prequel movie.
