Fango recently had a sitdown with GINGER SNAPS 2: UNLEASHED director Brett Sullivan on the set of Sullivan’s follow-up, THE CHAIR (formerly titled HUSH).
The thriller, which stars Alanna Chisholm and Lauren Roy, is currently being shot in and around Toronto, and really is the definition of ‘indie film’. Shot with the DVX-100 24p camera in director Sullivan’s own century-old Victorian home near the University of Toronto, which Sullivan had to vacate during the course of filming, one crew member described the film’s budget as being the equivilent of the catering budget on any studio horror film being shot in Toronto at that time. At least they didn’t have to deal with redneck locals like Raimi and company did for the EVIL DEAD shoot, but that’s another story.
As well as describing the shoot in the article, Fangoria also grabbed a couple of stills from the shoot, which you can find by pointing your browser here. You can also head over to the film’s official site (which still bears the film’s original title) for more info on the film as well as more stills. Expect THE CHAIR sometime later this year.
