As much as I hate reboots and sequels, there’s something that bothers me about taking something classic and twisting it into something ridiculous masquerading as a new idea. Sometimes, it pans out a-la-SHERLOCK HOLMES. As for HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS? Ummm, I don’t know how I this is going to go.
Above you can see the first official picture of Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in costume as the duo. They’ve survived their childhood trauma and are back to hunt down the sorts of witches that would eat little children. Obviously dressing like Van Helsing is a must.
It’s supposed to be a hard-R black comedy with Arterton claiming it’s “got a Tarantino feel” to it and Renner claiming that his Hansel is “like Han Solo.” OK then, I’ll look forward to seeing both of those statements proven true I guess.
