That’s not a typo or even wishful thinking, that’s Roland Emmerich’s new pitch via MTV about what he wants to do next: two sequels to 1996’s INDEPENDENCE DAY aka ID4.
Let’s just have Emmerich explain it: What we want to do in the next – it’s actually two movies – we want to do a bigger arc. ‘Independence Day’ was always like the king who leads his troops into battle against an evil force, and that stays like that. ‘ID4-ever,’ Part I and II maybe?
ID4-EVER! It’s silly, stupid, ridiculous, but you know what… it might just work. He says Will Smith would definitely be involved, and I don’t see why Bill Pullman (aka Eric Walkuski) and Jeff Goldblum wouldn’t come back for a sequel–as unnecessary as a sequel like this would be.
I’m guessing it all hinges off the success of 2012, which hits theaters nationwide today, so if you want an ID4-EVER, go check that shit out and help fund the dude’s next movie!
