Images give us a look at Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House

Mike Flanagan is one of the most popular directors working in the horror genre today, a popularity he has earned by making such films as OCULUS, HUSH, GERALD'S GAME, and OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL. The next genre offering we'll be seeing from him is a 10 episode Netflix series based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill House, and Netflix has revealed when the show will be released through their streaming service.

The premiere date is October 12th. Just in time for horror fans to engage in some Halloween season binge watching, and I will be one of the fans doing that.

Flanagan's take on The Haunting of Hill House is described as a "modern reimagining" of Jackson's novel. The story centers on

a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past — some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House.

The cast includes Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Timothy Hutton, Annabeth Gish, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Pedretti, Mckenna Grace, Violet McGraw, Lulu Wilson, Paxton Singleton, and Julian Hilliard.

Along with the release date announcement, Netflix has also released some images from the series that give an early look at the titular house and the characters who are unlucky enough to venture inside.

Jackson's novel previously served as the basis for two feature films, THE HAUNTING 1963 and THE HAUNTING 1999.
