IMAX employees have seen Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and love it

In some alternate universe, Christopher Nolan's much-anticipated TENET is already playing in theaters and there are countless articles debating the true meaning of it all, but as 2020 seems to want us all dead, we've got to wait a little longer for our Nolan-fix. That said, there are a few lucky IMAX employees who have gotten to see the film, or at least portions of it, and big surprise, those movie-starved bastards loved it.

IMAX Corp. CEO Rich Gelfond recently spoke during a conference call with wall Street analysts, saying, "Several people at Imax were involved with Tenet at the post-production phase. Their reaction was, ‘Oh my God – I forgot how great it was to be in a movie.’ Tenet is just a beautifully filmed, beautifully made, wonderful movie. … It wasn’t just one person, at one age. It was a number of Imax employees who spontaneously said that to me." And no employee has ever lied to their boss. Gelford also teased that unlike DUNKIRK, which was a "European-centric movie," TENET is more of a "traditional action thriller blockbuster with the potential for wider global appeal." Gelfond said that IMAX expects to have 90% of its global theaters back in operation by the end of August, which seems to be the perfect venue to view the film, provided you want to take the risk. Speaking of risk, IMAX CFO Patrick McClymont said that there will be numerous new safety precautions in place, but by the time you sit down, you hopefully won't notice them. "There are increased safety protocols. You certainly notice that," McClymont said. "Once you sit down and the movie begins, it feels like it always has. It was a fun, immersive experience. Prior to getting into your seat, there were differences, but once you were there, it felt quite normal."

We'll have an opportunity to see TENET for ourselves before too long, but the film will be rolling out in a rather unconventional way; On August 26th, the film will roll out in international territories such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russa, and the United Kingdom, before hitting select theaters in the U.S. on September 3rd.
