Impeachment: American Crime Story trailer brings a presidential scandal to life

Following in the footsteps of The People v. O.J. Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the next installment of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology series revolves around the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal that rocked the nation over twenty years ago. FX has released the Impeachment: American Crime Story trailer, and you can check that out below.

Impeachment is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President and stars Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Clive Owen as Bill Clinton, Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton, Margo Martindale as Lucianne Goldberg, Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones, Cobie Smulders as Ann Coulter, and more. The real-life Monica Lewinsky will also be serving as a co-producer on the project. Although I was certainly around when the whole Clinton/Lewinsky scandal was revealed, I wasn’t exactly at an age where I cared about presidential sex scandals or the endless stream of news coverage surrounding them. I obviously know a little more about it now, but as a lazy son of a bitch, I’m ready to sit back and allow a mini-series to let me know all the bits I missed. What did you think of the Impeachment trailer?

Impeachment: American Crime Story examines “the national crisis that led to the first impeachment of a U.S. President in over a century through the eyes of the women at the center of the events: Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp, and Paula Jones. All three were thrust into the public spotlight during a time of corrosive partisan rancor, shifting sexual politics, and a changing media landscape.Impeachment will debut on FX on September 7, 2021.
