In the Lost Lands: Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista join fantasy adventure

Who's up for some more high fantasy shenanigans with Monster Hunter director Paul W.S. Anderson? You are? Well, then I have some news for you! It would seem as if Anderson, Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Dazed and Confused), and Dave Bautista (Army of the Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) are teaming on a fantasy-adventure movie titled In the Lost Lands, which is based on the short story by Game Of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin.

The story follows a queen, desperate to obtain the gift of shapeshifting, who makes a daring play: she hires the sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich), a woman as feared as she is powerful. Sent to the ghostly wilderness of the 'Lost Lands’, Alys and her guide, the drifter Boyce (Bautista), must outwit and outfight man and demon in a fable that explores the nature of good and evil, debt and fulfillment, love and loss.

Anderson has already written the script, with plans for Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil), Anderson, Jovovich, Bautista, and Jonathan Meisner to produce through Dream Bros Entertainment, and Constantin Werner. This is not the first time that a film project based on Martin's short story has been in the works. Previously, a version of the project launched in Berlin but failed to move forward. With a new creative team and financial elements already secured, it's all but guaranteed that Anderson's version will reach theaters.

As much as I am skeptical about Anderson adapting the material, I will jump at any chance to see Jovovich portray an all-powerful spellcaster. Plus, Bautista being thrown to the mercy of enchanted lands and demonic beasts sounds like a whole hell of a lot of fun. I say we keep our fingers crossed and see how this intriguing idea shakes out.
