Well, I guess Christopher Nolan really enjoyed working with the INCEPTION cast. Either that, or THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is actually a sequel to INCEPTION, instead of THE DARK KNIGHT…
We know that Tom Hardy is in TDKR, and so is Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as well as, of course, Michael Caine). Now comes the news that Marion Cotillard (who played Leonardo DiCaprio’s deceased lover in the mind-twisting thriller) is “in talks” to join the third Batman flick. The Oscar-winning actress hasn’t signed on officially; her rep has evidently told The Hollywood Reporter that “nothing has been confirmed yet” – which essentially confirms that it’s in the works.
The role Cotillard is up for is unknown, but I think it’s safe to say that Nolan is most likely searching for Bruce Wayne’s romantic lead. Indeed, the Hollywood Reporter says that the director has met with many well-known actresses for that very role, including Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts.
Finally, if Coltillard should choose to accept this mission, the plan is apparently for Cotillard to start shooting mid-June in London, film all summer in L.A. and Pittsburgh and wrap mid-November in New York.
Interesting that Chicago isn’t mentioned there, as that’s been Gotham’s unofficial home in the last two pictures. That said, all this is still just talk until shooting actually starts. Stay tuned!
