NEON FLESH director Paco Cabezas is taking to the English-language market with TOKAREV, a revenge/crime thriller starring Nicolas Cage, Danny Glover, Rachel Nichols, Peter Stormare, and Max Ryan. Today, we have our first look at the trailer for the film, which kicks off a lot like Liam Neeson's TAKEN, but takes a spoilerish turn that ups the stakes and dives into some darker territory. At first, you may think this is another straight-to-video Cage paycheck, but based on the trailer this one looks like a gritty, kick ass ride. And yes, it appears we'll get some Cage rage as well.

When the Russian mob kidnaps the daughter of a reformed criminal, he rounds up his old crew and seeks his own brand of justice.
Cage is definitely in hit or miss territory these days, but the guy is so damn watchable that it barely matters. Yeah, we'd like to see him in some more high-profile projects, but even so he's continued to work steadily and pull out some fine performances between lackluster flicks, such as his upcoming turn in David Gordon Green's JOE. Plus, Danny Glover! You can't go wrong with Stanley Goodspeed and Sgt. Murtaugh in the same movie can you?
TOKAREV is set to open sometime in early 2014.
