International Trailer for The Salvation starring Mads Mikkelsen & Eva Green

With Season 2 of Hannibal underway (Fridays 10/9c), we now get a glimpse at Mads Mikkelsen's next feature film role in THE SALVATION. Mikkelsen stars alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who doesn't look like he's playing around, and Eva Green, who always looks naturally gorgeous, 1800s or no.

The synopsis is as follows:

In 1870s America, a peaceful American settler kills his family's murderer which unleashes the fury of a notorious gang leader. His cowardly fellow townspeople then betray him, forcing him to hunt down the outlaws alone.

I'm not sure what it is about the western genre that gives themes like "revenge" and "salvation" more purpose and more grit, but it totally works. You better believe Mikkelsen knows a thing or two about revenge, lest you forget about what he was capable of with a chair and a rope in CASINO ROYALE

THE SALVATION, directed by Kristian Levring and starring Mads Mikkelsen, Eva Green, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mikael Persbrandt, and Eric Cantona, will screen at Cannes later this month, and may see a theatrical release sometime in 2014.
