Interview: Joe Bird and Adrian Chiarella Talk Leviticus

When horror gets bold, it is usually intriguing. And yes, Leviticus is absolutely bold. The new horror feature tells the story of Naim and Ryan (played by Joe Bird and Stacy Clauson). The two teenagers find themselves falling for each other. However, it’s not only dangerous for the two to keep their intimate moments hidden. But what’s worse is that something sinister is attempting to destroy them. As their relationship struggles, the evil force that takes the shape of what they both desire, they discover a much bigger fight is on their hands.

Last week, I sat down with both the film’s director, Adrian Chiarella, and one of the film’s stars, Joe Bird. If that name sounds familiar, young Bird shocked us with his wildly disturbing turn in the excellent Talk To Me. And yes, both he and Stacy do impressive work here. Mr. Chiarella discussed creating this intense story in the year 2026. It’s an intense story, one that engages in the romance of the two teens and the challenges of staying alive. As well, the horror of abuse becomes a heartbreaking and horrific genre metaphor.

The two were open about the subject matter. And as for Joe Bird, I mentioned he is a glutton for punishment. The actor excels at taking on characters in horror who are mercilessly abused in some form or another. And he brings it with soul and honesty. He and Stacy give sympathetic performances in the new thriller. It’s impressive work, and a different take on a haunting/possession tale.
