Interviews: The cast of Andor discuss the latest Star Wars Disney+ series

After the sequel trilogy and two standalone feature films, the future of Star Wars has been on Disney+. From The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian to The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, we have seen many eras explored on the streaming platform but none quite like the latest. Andor, a spin-off prequel to Rogue One, focuses on the early days of the rebellion against the Empire and features an in-depth look at the origin of Cassian Andor.

Starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the first season of Andor flashes between the title character’s childhood and exposure to rebelling against the system before joining forces with the group that would eventually lead to the downfall of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. Taking out the lightsabers and Jedi powers, Andor looks at the grunts and spies at the ground level fighting for the freedom of the galaxy. The series also looks at those who are forced to make a choice and take sides between fighting for the Rebels or enlisting in the Imperial machine.

I got the chance to chat with some cast members of Andor about joining the Star Wars universe. Denise Gough, who portrays Imperial officer Dedra Meero, talked about what it was like being on the set and how playing a female character in a male-dominated world influenced her performance. Kyle Soller, who portrays Syril, talked about the double-sided world of this series and whether being good or bad was a factor in his performance. Adria Arjona, who portrays Bix Caleen, talked about the franchise as a whole and how massive the scope and scale of Andor actually is. Check out the full interviews in the embed above.

Andor premieres on September 21st on Disney+.
